Mariah and Tessa threw not just Claire but the rest of us for a loop on the October 9 episode of The Young and the Restless when they expressed a desperate need for a nanny. Why? We have a theory.

Do Mariah (Camryn Grimes — who stood up to bullies) and Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) have jobs? Mariah does…something…at Cassidy Enterprises. And Tessa, who is an internationally famous pop star,…runs Society?
We never see them do either one. Most of the time, they are either worrying about Sharon (Sharon Case), sitting around, or sitting around and worrying about Sharon.
Where is Aria? Is she still deaf? Did her cochlear implants work? Is she getting speech therapy? Is she learning sign language?
Are her moms? What is keeping them so busy that they desperately need the services of a nanny?
Back To the Future
Maybe this isn’t about what they’re doing. Maybe this is about what they’re planning to do.
Sharon is clearly losing her grip on reality. Is Mariah planning to step in and take over running Cameron’s (Linden Ashby) company for her?
That would mean long days, long nights…and a nanny like Claire (Hayley Erin) to pick up the slack. Or is Tessa about to go back on tour?
Did she get her voice back? Did she ever go to physical therapy? Did she try some tea with honey or a throat lozenge?
End of the Road
Or could there be trouble in paradise? Sure, we’ve never seen Mariah and Tessa fight. But, to be fair, we haven’t seen them do much of anything lately. Their whole life is taking place off-screen. And maybe it’s not going well.
Maybe Aria’s moms are about to split up. Which means they definitely need a nanny, if only to ship Aria back and forth between them. Happy couples get no story on daytime. Is their bad news…good news for viewers?
