Social media has made it easier than ever for soap fans to connect with their favorite stars.
Unfortunately, it has also made it easier for people to pretend to be soap stars in order to scam those fans.
Sometimes they’re after money and other times they’re just spreading misinformation.
Days of Our Lives star Peter Reckell, who has become famous for playing Bo Brady over the decades, has constantly urged his fans to report fake accounts that pop up on sites like Facebook and TikTok.
“Obviously not me,” he declared when reposting one of the fake Facebook accounts. The actor also reminded fans he is not even on TikTok.
These fake accounts have also been spreading fake news, and one of the lies that they were telling was that Reckell and his wife, Kelly Moneymaker, had split up.
The singer and filmmaker proved that wasn’t true by sharing a sweet selfie on Twitter/X. “
Peter’s imposters have people convinced that we are no longer together,” Moneymaker wrote, “so here is a picture of Peter and me on our way out the door for date night this evening, Oct. 7, 2024.”
Moneymaker was born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska, and moved to Seattle and later Los Angeles to pursue a singing career.
In 1992, she joined the popular singing group Exposé and later released solo albums before turning to directing documentaries like Drum Song: The Rhythm of Life.
Reckell and Moneymaker were married on April 18, 1998, and the couple welcomed their daughter, Loden Sloan on October 25, 2007.
While the couple have kept their private life pretty private on social media, they felt that it was important to clear up any falsehoods being spread that they had gone their separate ways.
