Days of Our Lives’ Shocking Identity Reveal: ‘Abigail’ Is the Granddaughter of… [Spoiler]!?!
While we’ve known for months now that Days of Our Lives‘ “Abigail” isn’t who she’s been pretending to be, her true identity has remained something of a mystery. Yes, we know she’s one of the Greene siblings, but we haven’t been told who their mysterious mom actually is and we haven’t even gotten “Abigail’s” true name.
That is, until now.
All the secrets are coming out as the con comes crashing to an end and AnnaLynne McCord talked to TVInsider to explain who “Abigail” really is — and who the Greenes are all related to!
Her true name, according to McCord, is Cat Greene.
She was named, we’d guess after her mother. And if you can see where we’re going here, then you’re probably right.
The Greenes’ mom is Catherina, daughter of the late Konstantin Meleounis.
John did not kill her! (But Clyde still might since he’s holding her hostage and Mark and Cat clearly aren’t going to get him what he wants.)
Still, that at least partially explains how John ended up mixed up in this when he went to visit Catherina’s grave and ended up kidnapped instead.
Sadly, it’s a part of the story we won’t get to see play out onscreen since Drake Hogestyn passed and John’s last episode was back in September.
As for Cat herself, McCord told TVInsider that we’ll finally get to meet the real, true woman behind “Abigail.”
“I got to create Cat out of my own feelings and experience,” she shared. “That allowed me a lot more freedom once we figured out who she was and where we were going more with the storyline.
Once that big reveal happens and the details start to play out, you do get to really experience Cat and her dynamic with her family and what her siblings mean to her.”
And expect her to stick around and, it sounds like, stay out of jail! After all, she didn’t try to murder anyone and was forced into the con under extreme duress.
“She has even more of a twist to her background and her story in the months to come,” McCord teased to TVInsider.
Once the burden of all of this is lifted, we’re going to see a different Cat than the “Abigail” she’s been playing. But meeting the real woman behind the ruse and finding out who the Greene family truly are is just the start.
“I felt like there was a lot of seriousness to everything and maybe this character can bring a little lightness and joy,” McCord shared.
“She’s been through a lot and her mother has been through a lot, so she gets to use humor as her outlet and it’s been fun infusing the storyline with that.”
Well, after the heartbreak this story has given us, we’re ready for some levity!
