Days of Our Lives

Days of Our Lives May Have Just Given Us Our Next ‘Bo’

Salem has been in for one wild ride this summer. When the Days of Our Lives writers returned from the strike, they set about upending virtually everything. Konstantin was killed, John and Steve ran off to Greece, the truth about baby Jude came out, Gabi was released from prison and Connie was revealed as Li’s true killer. And she’s not done yet.

In the cemetery, Jada leans over Rafe's body. A knife sticks out of his back

Because now there’s Rafe. After she quite literally stabbed him in the back on Friday’s show in exchange for Bobby’s silence, the show’s done its best to leave us on the edge of our seats virtually every day since. First we saw Rafe stabbed, then we saw him crash in the hospital and now we’ve just learned that he’s lapsed into a coma.

At this point, Kayla’s best advice to Jada and Gabi is to pray for him.

Comas aren’t the end of the world — Holly was in one recently, Harris spent a brief time in one, and even Eli lapsed into one a little while back — but they can be scary. And they can remove actors and their characters from the canvas for a little while.

Sometimes, they can even take characters away for good, just like with Bo.

The question is, which way is Rafe going? Is he going to just be out of commission for a short time like Harris? Take a couple weeks like Eli? Be gone for a few months like Holly? Or is he the next Bo, getting sent away with little hope that he’ll wake any time soon?

We haven’t gotten any indication of Rafe or Galen Gering leaving, but we can’t help but worry. And worse, we can’t imagine how Jada would feel suffering yet another crushing blow to her love life. Or how Gabi would react to coming home to Salem only to lose the only family she has in town.

For now, we’ll keep our fingers crossed and, like Jada and Gabi wait to see what news tomorrow brings.
