Soap kids getting SORAS-ed is inevitable sometimes, for the sake of the storylines and plot twists. The Young And The Restless has also seen its fair share of it.
The most recent one is little Harrison Abbott. However, today we are taking a little walk down memory lane! Long-time fans would remember Victorn Newman’s daughter Abby in her younger years!
Back in the day, Abby’s character was portrayed by child star – Darcy Rose Byrnes. Although the actress is not part of the CBS soap anymore, but she is still doing really well as a grown-up performer.
Darcy has scored a wonderful gig! She told Soaps.com that she is now part of Reefer Madness, a satirical musical about a 1936 marijuana propaganda film.
The Young and The Restless alum plays the role of the virtuous Mary Lane. She and her loving and kind boyfriend Jimmy Harper slip down the road to ruin after they start experimenting with drugs.
The project is produced by Kristen Bell, Christian Campbell, and Alan Cumming, to honor its 25th anniversary.
“It’s just been a dream to know that the person who made it famous is so squarely in your corner. It’s quite a wonderful feeling that is hard to describe,” Darcy quipped.
Interstingly, doing a musical is not a one-off thing for her. The actress has amazing singing talents and wants to make it big on Broadway. Her dream role is that of Glinda in Wicked!
Honestly, we have no doubts that Dracy will make it big in acting, no matter where she does it because she truly learned from the best!
The actress shared that Eric Braeden taught her how to act on the sets of Y&R. “He’s a wonderful scene partner and a wonderful person.. and I really learned from the best getting to work with him,” she asserted.
Unfortunately, back then she only got to remain on the soap for 5 years, because Abby was then aged up.
“At the time I was really upset because it was the steady thing that I always went back to,” Dracy recalled the time. Furthermore, she reflected ” I think I’m a very, very loyal person and so if that hadn’t happened, I probably would still be on the show.”
Well, all said and done, it looks like things did work out wonderfully for her in the end. We wish Darcy Rose all the best for all her future gigs!
