Savannah Chrisley Shares “Hopeful” Update on Mom Julie Chrisley’s Release!

Savannah Christley Updates Fans on Julie’s Potential Release

Savannah Christley recently shared an update on her podcast “Unlocked” regarding her mother Julie’s release. On July 2nd, the 26-year-old revealed that her mom’s seven-year prison sentence for tax evasion and bank fraud has been vacated.

Savannah is hopeful that Julie will return home soon, following a court-ordered resentencing. She mentioned that they are now waiting, hopefully no more than 90 days, for the hearing. Savannah expressed her optimism, stating, “Hopefully she comes home because the appeals court said they could not find the evidence used to convict Mom.”

On June 21st, a three-judge panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the convictions of Julie’s husband, Todd Chrisley, who is serving a 12-year sentence, and their accountant, Peter Tarantino.

However, the panel found that the original trial judge miscalculated Julie’s sentence in 2022.

According to People magazine, the judge ruled that while Julie was held responsible for the bank fraud scheme that began in 2006, there was insufficient evidence to prove her involvement prior to 2007.

The panel noted that neither the prosecutors nor the trial judge provided specific evidence of her involvement in 2006.

Savannah’s goal is to have her mom home by Thanksgiving, allowing her to focus on Todd’s situation. She clarified, “This wasn’t a loss for Dad.

The appeals court gave us a solid case for ineffective counsel, saying trial lawyers should have objected and filed motions timely. They filed it two years past the deadline, which doesn’t make sense, especially after spending around $5 million on a legal defense.”

Savannah also shared how the family is coping amid the ongoing news, reflecting on a therapy session with Chloe, the niece of Todd and Julie, who is now under their guardianship.

She mentioned that Chloe had tears in her eyes upon hearing about Julie potentially returning home, but nothing new happening for Todd.

Savannah recounted, “I spoke to our therapist, and then Chloe came in. Her therapist asked if her outburst today might have something to do with things she’s heard.

Chloe said, ‘Mom and Dad,’ and it was heartbreaking to see her face as I explained there’s a chance Mom could come home, but nothing is happening for Dad right now. Watching her tears well up, it just breaks my heart.”
