Greg Vaughan points out that Sloan’s betrayals have left his character totally blindsided. “There were so many betrayals, and Eric was in the dark, oblivious to what had happened.” According to Vaughan, Eric was so happy, thinking he finally had the perfect family he had always wanted.
Moreover, Eric even tried to persuade his family to support his relationship with Sloan, believing she had changed. However, “Not only did he realize Sloan had duped him about her true nature, but he had to say good-bye to Jude.” Greg emphasizes that losing something we thought was ours is incredibly painful.
