What’s the BIG news? Head writer Ron Carlivati has left the ex-NBC soap. Meanwhile, veteran writers Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford are immediately stepping in to take over the writing duties. Read on to get the whole scoop!

DOOL Revamps Writing Team, Ron Departs!

Deadline has made an announcement that took the Days fandom by surprise. It stated, “Days is announcing that Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford will become the drama’s new head writers beginning immediately.” As part of the change, head writer Ron Carlivati will say goodbye to the Peacock show after seven years.

Moreover, episodes written by him will air through April 2025 due to the soap’s unique tape-to-air schedule. Cwikly, a vet writer, has written for The Young and the Restless, As The World Turns, and Sunset Beach.

The seasoned wordsmith also has a history with DOOL, having served as an associate and head writer in the early 2000s.

Meanwhile, Jeanne Marie Ford started her career as a writer’s assistant at Days back in 1992.  She’s currently on the writing team as a breakdown writer.

Additionally, her remarkable resume includes writing gigs for As The World Turns and One Life to Live. Showrunner Ken Corday expressed optimism about the change.

He said, “We look forward to approaching our 60th Anniversary next year with Paula and Jeanne Marie.” Corday teased about fresh and exciting stories that he knows the fans will embrace.

Carlivati joined the Peacock soap in 2017, two years after being let go as General Hospital’s head writer. His tenure at Days brought the viewers memorable storylines like the one-year time jump and the devil’s return.

Furthermore, Ron also penned touching farewells for daytime icons John Aniston and Bill Hayes.

Days of Our Lives typically shoot episodes about six months in advance. So, the big changes are on the horizon with the new writing team. However, it will take some time to see them unfold on screen
