The Days of Our Lives DNA Test Results Are In: Abigail Is Officially Home… Or Is She?

Well that was quick. The mystery woman’s identity has already been revealed on Days of Our Lives!
After a quick DNA test courtesy of Aunt Kayla, we learned today that Clyde’s mysterious captive is a 50 percent genetic match to Jack. In other words, she’s his daughter. Abigail is back and this time around, AnnaLynne McCord is playing her! At least, that’s what we’re supposed to think.
Unsurprisingly, we (and quite a few fans) have our doubts.
Because today’s show ended with Chad leaving Abigail alone in the DiMera living room, only for her to utter a very cryptic, highly suspicious, “So I guess Abigail’s home.” (Check out today’s recap here if you want to read what happened.) So what’s going on?
The DNA test itself is no surprise, of course. We knew they’d have to get to it eventually. Plus, McCord herself teased the DNA test and promised us that the truth would come out — but that doesn’t necessarily mean it would come out from the test. Tests, after all, can be changed. Sloan did that not just once, but twice with Jude. Well, she tried to do it twice, but the second time didn’t exactly go as planned.
And if Clyde planted a fake Abigail for some reason, you can be sure that he’d think through the possibility of a DNA test and would probably have a plan for dealing with it. Maybe he’s got the lab tech running the test in his back pocket, much like he had Goldman working for him in the Salem PD.
As Merrily_ hilariously put it on X/Twitter, “This is Days of Our Lives… This is Salem. You could test DNA with the family dog and it will be a match.”

Truth! So the DNA test is far from a guarantee unless we see Kayla doing the entire thing herself with our own eyes and never letting it or the results out of her sight. And even then…
But there could be another reason this Abigail is a genetic match with Jack — she could be another daughter. One fan suggested that maybe she’s an amnesiac Gwen, but that seems doubtful as Leo has supposedly talked to her on the phone in the time since Jack and Chad tracked down the mystery woman.
But there’s always the chance that Jack’s got another daughter out there and Clyde got his hands on her. Heck, maybe they were even long lost twins until the accident that needed plastic surgery.
It wouldn’t be the first time that happened in daytime. Todd and Victor went through a similar experience on One Life to Live. As did Jason and Drew on General Hospital. If Clyde wanted a fake Abigail to take the real one’s place, a twin would be awfully useful.
All of this is just speculation for now, but when we spoke with AnnaLynne McCord, she promised, “there are lots of twists and turns.” As far as we know, right now McCord is playing an amnesiac Abigail who had to undergo face-altering plastic surgery after an accident. But this is Salem and that could change at any moment.
