Write You Are: General Hospital Confirms the Team That’s *Now* Penning the Show

The drama on General Hospital on August 6 wasn’t just in the twists of plot that went down over the course of the hour, it was also in the soap’s opening credits: They confirmed that the tag team that is now writing the show is Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten.

You’ll recall that in January of 2024, co-headwriters Van Etten and Dan O’Connor were shown the door as Korte and Patrick Mulcahey were ushered through the entrance.

Less than six months later, Mulcahey left his role. What was going on? Heck if we knew, ’cause General Hospital sure as [bleep] wasn’t saying.

Now, at last, eagle-eyed viewers who watched the credits of Wednesday’s show know that Van Etten is back on staff and co-headwriting General Hospital with one of his replacements, Korte.

In addition, Soap Opera Digest reports that script and breakdown writer Cathy LePard has been promoted to associate headwriter.

Let’s hope that the new(est) regime pulling the strings in Port Charles can fix a few things — like, for starters, the way that the sublime Maura West’s Ava is being written as if she is somehow worse than Sonny.

(Even his visions of late son Morgan are willing to make excuses for the career criminal!) And thank goodness the remixed writing team is fully in place before they wake up Lulu.
