Throughout 19 seasons of Sister Wives, Kody Brown has rarely admitted any mistakes. But in the new episode on Sunday night, the family patriarch confessed he made a few errors during the pandemic.
It’s certainly a major shift for Kody, who tends to be narcissistic and thinks everyone is always against him. So what did he ultimately regret?
Kody Brown Knows He Messed Up
Most Sister Wives fans weren’t impressed with the new episode. Overall, viewers felt that Kody and Robyn’s dramatic driveway scene took up too much time. And on top of that, most found it incredibly obvious that TLC staged the scene.
However, many felt shocked when Kody admitted he made mistakes that contributed to the family’s downfall. Throughout the past several seasons, he’s completely avoided personal responsibility for any of his divorces.
So why admit fault now?
There are still plenty of instances where Kody Brown never accepted blame.
But in the new episode, he says he regrets two situations in particular: trying to kick Gabriel and Garrison out of Janelle’s house, and not attending Ysabel’s back surgery.
At the time, Kody pointed fingers at Janelle and her household and said if they couldn’t abide by his rules, he wouldn’t visit them.
When Janelle refused to kick her sons out of the house, Kody soured on them and stopped prioritizing them.
“That just became sort of a foolish power game,” the TLC star admitted during the new episode.
One Decision Fueled Christine Brown’s Choice To Leave
Kody Brown never seemed to make up with Janelle’s sons, but that’s not where his poor behavior ends. He also admitted he made a major mistake when he abandoned Ysabel during her back surgery.
“That put some bad blood between a bunch of us,” the family patriarch continued. At the time, the pandemic was in its early days and know one knew exactly what to do.
But even so, Ysabel needed back surgery and had to fly to New Jersey to get it. Christine was more than willing to go with her daughter, but Kody refused to travel during the pandemic.
Ultimately, that drove a major wedge between Kody and the other family members. Ysabel felt abandoned, her siblings empathized with her, and Christine ultimately decided she was done with their marriage.
Although leaving is hard, Christine is wildly thankful she moved on with her life. And her fans couldn’t be happier for her.
