Kody Brown Didn’t Have Meri’s Best Interests In Mind
As Sister Wives fans recall, Kody Brown wanted to legally adopt Robyn’s three children from her first marriage.
However, the courts allegedly wouldn’t let that happen unless Kody was married to Robyn.
As a result, Meri offered to divorce Kody so he could marry Robyn instead and adopt her children.
At the time, viewers thought it was a terrible decision. But in hindsight, many realize that Kody completely scammed Meri in this situation.
“Kody scammed Meri in the legal divorce,” one Redditor shared online this week.
“I’m just realizing that for all of Kody’s complaining and moaning about money and how he’s been through three divorces he actually made out like a bandit. At the time that he and Meri legally divorced it was ‘just a paperwork shuffle.’”
The OP went on to describe how there wasn’t any financial settlement between Kody and Meri.
They joked about alimony, but Meri sincerely believed she was doing what was right for the family. She didn’t think about what she might be entitled to after 20 years of marriage.
“Now when she and Kody are actually divorcing in every practical sense she has no legal rights to go after any of that just like Christine and Janelle. All despite the fact that Meri contributed to the family financially for decades,” they continued.
