1 & 2. Richard Burgi and Robert Newman (Ashland Locke)

  • Richard Burgi: Initially cast for a short arc as Ashland Locke, his storyline was extended due to popularity. However, he was fired for breaching CBS’s stricter COVID-19 protocols.

Burgi had returned to work after five days following CDC guidelines, not CBS’s 10-day rule. He’s now a guest instructor at an acting workshop in Greece.

  • Robert Newman: Brought in to replace Burgi temporarily, he concluded the character’s storyline with Ashland’s death. Newman has since appeared in Law and Order, Joe vs. Carole, and Inventing Anna.

3. Michael Muhney (Adam Newman)

  • Michael Muhney: Fired in 2014 amidst rumors of inappropriate conduct, which he denies, stating instead it was due to conflicts with co-star Eric Braeden (Victor Newman). Muhney has appeared on The Good Doctor, Truth Be Told, and Search Engines since leaving.
  • Young and Restless Alum Michael Muhney (ex-Adam) Demands TMZ Apology

4. Hunter King (Summer Newman)

  • Hunter King: Left Y&R in 2021 to pursue other opportunities despite returning briefly for storyline continuity. Since her exit, she has been busy with movies like The Professional Bridesmaid and TV series such as Hamster and Gretel.

5. Brenda Dickson (Jill Abbott)

  • Brenda Dickson: Fired in 1987 and later claimed in her autobiography that creator Bill Bell blacklisted her. She also alleged an affair with Bell and subsequent personal ruin. She’s no longer active in TV or film acting.

6. Eric Braeden (Victor Newman)

  • Eric Braeden: Left briefly in 2009 due to contract disputes and again during Mal Young’s tenure as producer. Both exits were resolved, and he continues to be a central figure on the show.

7. Billy Miller (Billy Abbott)

  • Billy Miller: Left in 2014 after CBS refused his request for more flexibility to pursue other roles. He then joined General Hospital and appeared in Suits, Ray Donovan, and NCIS.
